Stop 1: Boston Common, your first box
Year one: twelve stops on the trail
Boston's Freedom Trail is a red line in the sidewalk, 2.5 miles long, linking 16 places from 1775 and the years around it. Our first year follows it out of the Common, across the river to Bunker Hill, then up the road to Lexington and Concord. Every box is one stop and one roaster you have not had from us before. Walking order, not date order.

Boston Common
Set aside in 1634The oldest city park in the country and mile zero of the Freedom Trail. The British army camped on these 50 acres before the war.

Granary Burying Ground
Founded 1660Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, John Hancock and the five men killed in the Boston Massacre lie here, a short walk from the Common.

Old South Meeting House
Built 1729On December 16, 1773, a crowd of at least 5,000 filled this hall to argue over the tea, then walked down to the harbor.

Griffin's Wharf
December 16, 1773The Boston Tea Party. Three ships, 340 chests, 92,616 pounds of East India Company tea in the harbor. The wharf is long filled in; the spot is near Pearl Street.

Old State House
Built 1713The Boston Massacre happened in the street outside on March 5, 1770. On July 18, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was read from the balcony.

Faneuil Hall
Opened 1742Boston's town meetings and the speeches against the Crown earned it the name Cradle of Liberty. Shem Drowne's grasshopper weathervane has turned on its roof since 1742.

Paul Revere House
Built about 1680The oldest surviving house in downtown Boston. Revere owned it from 1770 to 1800 and set out from here on the night of April 18, 1775.

Old North Church
Built 1723Two lanterns in the steeple on the night of April 18, 1775: the regulars were crossing by water. The steeple stands 191 feet, and the church is Boston's oldest still standing.

USS Constitution
Launched October 21, 1797Old Ironsides, the oldest commissioned warship still afloat anywhere, berthed at the Charlestown Navy Yard where the trail crosses the river.

Bunker Hill Monument
June 17, 1775The battle was fought mostly on Breed's Hill next door. The 221-foot granite obelisk went up between 1825 and 1843, and 294 steps take you to the top.

Lexington Battle Green
Dawn, April 19, 1775About 80 militia under Captain John Parker faced roughly 700 regulars. Eight Lexington men were killed. The war began here.

Old North Bridge, Concord
Morning, April 19, 1775Militia were ordered to fire on the King's troops and drove them back across the bridge. Emerson's Concord Hymn named it the shot heard round the world.

Your first box comes with one free bag, and you pay the $7.99 shipping. After that it is $16.99 a bag plus $7.99 shipping a box. You get an email 3 days before every box, and you can skip, pause or cancel anytime. One free bag per customer: we match it by email and shipping address, and a repeat order pays full price.
How much is shipping?
$7.99 a box, whether it holds one bag or two, anywhere in the US. It is in the total you see above, before checkout. Gifts ship free.
How fresh is the coffee?
Roasted and shipped within 3 days. Each roaster roasts your bag to order and mails it straight from their roastery.

How do I manage my subscription?

We like different coffee. Can we share?
Yes. Pick two bags and set the second one to a different roast: light and decaf, dark and espresso, any pair. Both come from that month's roasters in the same box.
What if I start mid-year?
Everyone starts at Box 1, Boston Common, whenever they join, and walks from there.
Will I get the same roaster twice?
Not in your first year. With more than 100 independent roasters in Massachusetts, each box is one you have not had from us before.
What happens after Box 12?
You have reached the Old North Bridge. Year two picks up more Massachusetts ground, with roasters you have not had yet. Stop anytime.
Do you ship outside Massachusetts?
Yes, anywhere in the US. Plenty of our boxes will go to people who grew up here and moved away.
